Branding and Marketing

            The Village of Roscommon is seeking to contract with a business to produce a series of products and services that will identify and market the positive aspects of living in and about the Village and its greater community.

The Village is actively pursuing the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Redevelopment Ready Communities® (RRC) certification.  The RRC program works with Michigan communities to streamline the development process by integrating transparency, predictability, and efficiency.  Of “Six Best Practices”, No. 6 requires a community to market and brand itself as a unique destination and a place where people want to visit, return to often, and chose to live and work.

The branding process centers on updating a logo and tag line for consistent use on the community website, business cards, letterhead, signage, etc.  The process should be one of discovery and consensus-building.  The scope of work will consist of the following aspects:

  • Developing a branding theme, i.e., a custom logo, header, and banner images;
  • Creating a Village “tagline” and a color scheme;
  • Building a social media platform, with profile pictures, icons and buttons that support immediate and long-term outreach and marketing strategies; and,
  • Providing for associated technical assistance and support.

The Village RRC Steering Committee (the ROXIE) will review the proposed work and assist the Village manager in making a recommendation to the Council for approval.

The Village is currently in the process of updating its Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance.  These documents are currently under review and scheduled for adoption by mid-2019.  As part of this process a public survey was conducted.  Many facets emerged as important to Villagers and surrounding residents for continuing and expanding the quality of life in Roscommon.  A copy of the survey is available for review upon request.
