Public Works (DPW)


The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all village infrastructure including but not limited to streets, street lights (decorative light poles only), Wallace Park, wastewater treatment, and the water and sewer mains, lift stations and wells.

The DPW is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 am. – 3:30 pm. and closed from 11:30 am. – 12:00 pm. for lunch.

If you need your water turned on or off, please call Village Hall to set up an appointment. If we are closed and you have a water or sewer emergency, please call central dispatch on their non-emergent number at 275-0911 and someone from the DPW will be paged.

~DPW Director Wanted~

Eric Nicholaison is the Department of Public Works Specialist. He is married to Nicole and they have a daughter, Kali.  Eric has a cabin on Higgins Lake and has been with the DPW since January 2016.

Gary Boyle is the Department of Public Works Technician. He is married to Edith and they have a daughter Jennifer, and four grandsons. Gary is involved in the Rosco-Higgins Snowmobile Trail Club and the Moose Club of Grayling. Gary is a life long resident and has been with the DPW since January 2016.

Inside the DPW Lab

dpw4     The Village DPW Specialist performs tests on wastewater samples from different sources to monitor what is flowing in and out of the sewer system and the lagoons. These complex tests are done several times a month.

  • Suspended Solids- measures various solids
  • BOD’s- measures biochemical O2 Depletion
  • Phosphorus- soaps, detergents & other products
  • Amonia Nitrate- amonia levels
  • Fecal Coli-Form- bacteria levels

Water Quality Reports



  • ~Chlorination~

      November 9th, 2016 Due to the presence of coliform bacteria in the water distribution system, the Village of Roscommon will be initiating chlorination of its water system indefinitely. For further information, please contact Village Hall at 275-5743.

  • ~Attention Village Residents~

    Public Service Announcement…. As part of our normal routine maintenance, the Department of Public Works will be flushing the water system in the evenings, starting the first week of May. If you experience discolored water, please be patient as the sediment will settle and clear up on its own. ~Thank You~
